Christian Saenz surfing so insane on this new board that it was no shock he would end up in the finals. Putting all his hard work and training to the test in the consistent surf, and it paid off big. In the final he got two ridiculous waves and blew them up with quick power turns. Christian took 5th place in the juniors final. Shocked after watching the final to not see his result in the top three. Jake Saenz with his powerful style shined on Sunday. Winning two rounds to place him self straight into the finals. He scored a 7.5 on an incredible wave and I think the spray is still landing from those Damian Hobgood type turns! 6th place menehuene’s. Bryan Doheny looked like a WQS surfer from Australia or something showing up at our NSSA event. Saw so many front side reverses, fast vertical blow tails which landed him 3rd place in the mens division. Andrew Doheny scored a poker hand of 10’s that would of cleared a Las Vegas table! If he was a gambling grommet. Making two finals taking 1st in boys and 6th in juniors. The glare was a factor in his junior final because his surfing was flawless. Johnny Elles “ Johnny don’t surf but he wish he did “ The Clash circa 1980’s never met Gumball Johnny. Johnny is the man at 12 years old, if he enters an event you bet he will be there for the final. He got to stretch his legs in some over head waves taking 5th in the menehuene’s. Kyle Kennelly Doing it! Stoked to see such a great surfer put it together and make the Mens final. Every dog has its day you might say but these two days Kyle was was throwing hot flashy turns, keeping his speed no matter what the waves were doing on a borrowed board from fellow team mate Andrew Doheny. Buy that one Kyle, no in reality he was just on! 6th place mens. Sara Taylor’s a stand out! Ripping all day right into the finals. Out of 7 events she may have only missed out on one final. Got to love it when women do such a hard snap and all the guys on the beach go OOOOOOH ! 2nd place womens. Quinn Mc Crystal saving our trump card for last. Quinn is on such a role right now it’s not funny and might be the fastest surfer on the tour this season in Juniors and Mens division. In this junior final he picked off a nice over head wave and blasted a turn then went fully committed to the close out section looking like Joel Parko with a huge blow tail and scoring a 9. Juniors 1st place, Mens 2nd place. -Mark Reeder Labels: TEAM HAPPENINGS Read more... |
