Lisa Anderson Book Signing Saturday December 15th!

Don’t miss your chance to meet Lisa Andersen and have her sign her new book Fearlessness, Saturday, December 15th from 1-3 pm at Huntington Surf & Sport located at 300 PCH, Huntington Beach, CA.

Press Release:
Lisa Andersen's life story has taken on a larger-than-life quality, as stories of sports legends tend to do. As a teen in Ormond Beach, FL, she racked up a shiny collection of National Scholastic Surfing Association trophies in under a year, and then made good on those successes by winning the National Championship a year later. Itching to pursue a pro career but discouraged by her surf-disapproving parents, the rebellious sixteen-year-old ran away to California, leaving a note vowing that she would win a world title.

In Fearlessness, this wholly original biography, esteemed surf writer Nick Carroll captures Andersen’s unconventional path to fame. Lisa Andersen did indeed become surfing world champion—not once, but four times. Along the way she raised a baby daughter on tour, launched the Roxy brand of surf wear, and inspired an entire generation of young girls to surf.

Lisa Andersen forever blurred the distinction between men's and women's surfing with her phenomenal strength and skills. She proved that a woman champion could be beautiful, feminine and powerful. Her list of accomplishments is impressive if not astounding:

-The second woman ever to grace the cover of Surfer Magazine, among a slew of other fashion, surfing and lifestyle publications, including Sports Illustrated, who named her one of the greatest sportswomen of the century.

-Voted the “#1 Female Surfer” by the Surfer Magazine’s Poll Awards for five consecutive years.

-Teen Choice Award Winner in 2007, Best Action Sports Athlete – Female.

-Waterman of the Year, 2007. Surf Industry Awards. First time in the history of the event that a women received the award.

-X-Games Gold Medalist (Coach) 2007

Wave-conquerors, Blue Crush lovers, and Roxy surf apparel fans alike will delight in the chronicles of Andersen’s ride to the top—from her early family life as a Virginia farm girl, to her first surfing experience at age thirteen, from her first encounter with motherhood, to her turn away from the professional sporting scene to begin a career anew. Packed with color photographs and never-before-revealed details of a fascinating life, Fearlessness lays bare the story of a young woman who conquered the surf world and changed it forever.

Nick Carroll is a former editor of Surfing magazine and the author of The Next Wave. He lives in Australia.

Lisa Andersen is a four-time world champion surfer and ambassador for the Roxy brand of surf wear. The 38-year-old mother of two now splits her time between her hometown of Ormond Beach, Florida and her adopted home, Huntington Beach, California. She is available for interviews.
