Oakley Newport Beach Pro Back ON in Increased Swell!



NEWPORT BEACH, California (Friday, September 19, 2008) – The Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) World Qualifying Series (WQS) 2-Star Oakley Newport Beach Pro is back on with Round 4 paddling out in four-to-five foot (1.5 metre) racy barrels at 56th Street in Newport Beach, California.
The Oakley Newport Beach Pro has already been treated to some dramatic surfing with Nathan Yeomans (San Clemente, CA), 27, two-time defending event champion and former Macy’s California Trifecta Surf Series Winner (2006), dominating yesterday’s proceedings while top seed and current No. 4 on the ASP WQS Patrick Gudauskas (San Clemente, CA, 22, was a surprise elimination.
The ASP Grade-2 Oakley Pro Junior will follow today’s ASP WQS action, running all the way through the Semifinals.
Both the Oakley Newport Beach Pro and the Oakley Pro Junior represent the second stop in the 2008 Macy’s California Trifecta Surf Series (an ASP North America Specialty Series) with competitors looking to net a solid result before the third and final stop in Santa Cruz in October.
